Join the Lewis and Clark Democrats at our June monthly meeting. Ask a friend to join you, and let's get to work.

On the agenda:

  • SPECIAL ELECTION OF OFFICERS! Chair Tonia Bossell gave notice of her resignation at our May meeting. Vice Chair Shawn Whyte has declined to take over as Chair and has resigned from the Executive Board as well. Both positions need to be filled by the Special Election.

  • Who can run for these offices? According to our By-laws, "Any Democrat residing in Lewis & Clark County is eligible for election as an officer. If, during the officer’s term, they move out of Lewis & Clark County, the officer’s term immediately ends...The Chair and Vice Chair must have different gender identities."

  • Who can vote in this special officer election? According to our By-laws,"eligible voters include all members of the Executive Board, all Lewis and Clark County precinct committee representatives, and all Democratic Elected Officials elected by all or any part of Lewis & Clark County."

  • We will also prepare for the Montana Democratic Party platform convention July 29-30 at Montana Tech in Butte. The current party platform is here. All Central Committees are invited to submit platform amendments to be voted on at the Platform Convention. Voters at the Convention include County Chairs, Vice-Chairs, and two State Committee people or their alternates.

  • Volunteer for open precinct representative positions. Don't know your precinct? Check out the Montana My Voter page. According to our By-laws, "Any Democrat who resides in a precinct in Lewis & Clark County may apply for a vacant Precinct Representative or Alternate position if they have attended at least two Committee meetings in the previous six months."

  • Discuss and prepare a calendar of upcoming events and campaign activities.

  • Discuss/ plan future outreach opportunities. These include tabling at the Helena Farmers' Market, the Montana Pride parade (July 23), and the LC County Fair Booth and Parade (July 27 to July 30).

  • Brainstorm fundraising to support our candidates elected in the primary.

  • Legislators and Democratic candidates are welcome to speak briefly and provide campaign updates.
